Manea Park Enviro Walk – 16th & 18th November 2020

Dear Cub Scout Parents and Carers,

Cubs will be walking sections of the Manea Park Walk Trail learning about the environment. They will also be doing a short video presentation on the environment and collecting litter as part of our “Cub Commissioner’s Challenge” Badge for 2020.

Cubs should meet at the entrance to Manea Park (located at the corner of Somerville Drive and Winthrop Avenue, College Grove, Bunbury) at 5.30pm. Please remember to come a little earlier to ensure you don’t miss the start. it is expected that we will return to the start about 7.00pm (hopefully), although it could possibly be a little later.

Please wear Full Uniform & scarf, preferably with long pants and wear closed in walking shoes. Please bring a jacket (or raincoat) if it looks like it will be cold (or wet).

In a small back pack please bring a water bottle and torch, and we strongly suggest that cubs have applied insect repellent before they arrive.

Parent helpers are welcome to attend.

Please note that we endeavor to leave on time. Cubs arriving late may not be able to find us. This has happened at previous walks/hikes.

Thanks

UPDATE – Face-to-Face Meetings

PLEASE NOTE: Meetings have moved back the hall for Cub Scouts, re-starting from Monday 8th June 2020.

Dear Cub Scout Parents and Carers,

Hopefully, your family has been able to participate in Scouting@home through the variety of zoom meetings and activities that have been offered. We also hope that you join us in wanting to get back to Scouting together – because it is supposed to be a group activity. Plans are that Cubs will meet at the hall beginning the week of Monday 8th June.

Before our meetings are permitted to resume at the hall, we are required to have a COVID Safety plan.  In the process of developing this plan, we have realised that it will lead to a few significant changes in the way that we have previously operated. The most significant is that cleaning must be completed at the end of each meeting and we seek your assistance to:

1. Familiarise yourself and your child(ren) with COVID procedures so that youth are aware of the requirements:

  • Hand sanitiser is available at the hall and please look out for the COVID posters.
  • The hall kitchen is closed, so everyone should please bring their own drink bottle.
  • A minimum number of toilets will be available.

2. Join the roster for Adult cleaners and participate in cleaning as directed by leaders at the end of the meeting.

3. Ensure that the correct contact details are recorded for yourself and your family.

I urge you to respond to your leaders requests for cleaners, so that we can comply with the new regulations. We are sure that you understand that if your child has been unwell with any symptoms in the previous 24 hours, they should not attend Scouts.

Thank you for your help and support as we continue to provide a beneficial and rewarding program of Scouting for all our youth members. Please remember that we are all volunteers and are trying to do our best under these unprecedented circumstances. As always, your leaders and myself are available to help with any questions or concerns.

Many thanks
